Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies With A Savory Twist

Ingredients

  • 10 oz or 260 g of all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ cup of white granulated sugar
  • 2 oz or 50 ml butter
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp sea salt

Instructions

Step 1 – Prepare the dough

In a big glass bowl sift the all purpose flour after that sift the salt, baking powder, baking soda; add the white granulated sugar and whisk to combine.

The butter should be at a warm temperature, if yours was in the fridge however, you can melt it for about 10-15 seconds in the microwave. Add the melted butter to the flour, then crack the two whole eggs in a separate bowl – in the flour mix they go.

Stir until a thick dough forms. Add the chocolate chips – you can use dark chocolate or milk chocolate, whichever you prefer.

Tip: For this recipe, semi-sweet chocolate will be best!

Cover the glass bowl with plastic foil and let it rest in the fridge overnight or if you do not have such time on your hands – for at least 1 hour.

Tip: When the dough is nicely chilled, it is easier to handle and we have also given a chance for all the flavour to incorporate!

Step 2 – Form the cookies

Once the dough is chilled, get a baking tray, for each cookie scoop around 3 oz 85 g of dough. Form into a ball with your hands and place on the baking tray. With the back of a spoon you can flatten the dough a little bit. Sprinkle some sea salt flakes on top – this will enhance the chocolate flavour.

Step 3 – Baking and serving

Once all the cookies are formed and placed on the baking tray, get them in your oven for 15 minutes at 350˚F or 175˚C.

Let them cool completely and serve with a glass of hot chocolate or milk!

Double Chocolate Chip Cookies – For those who cannot live without extra sweetness in their life

Ingredients

  • 1 cup and ½ all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 4 oz or 100 g butter
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 2/3 cups of white granulated sugar
  • 1 chocolate
  • ¼ cup chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1 –  Prepare the wet and dry ingredients

For the wet ingredients

Get the whole chocolate – we recommend dark chocolate for this recipe. Cut it into big pieces. Over the stop heat up a bowl with water, once boiling place another bowl into the one with water and add the chocolate and the butter. Stir until melted completely. Set aside for now.

Beat the two eggs with the sugar for around 3 minutes until they become light and creamy. Combine the melted butter and chocolate mixture with the beaten eggs and gently fold.

For the dry ingredients

In a big bowl sift the flour, soda, salt and cocoa powder.

Step 2 – Preparing the dough

Now that your wet and dry ingredients are ready, grab the chocolate mix and pour it in the bowl with the sifted flour. With a spatula stir until the dough gets formed – it should be slightly glossy because of the melted chocolate and butter. When you think everything is well mixed, add the chocolate chips and fold them in.

Step 3 – Forming and baking the cookies

On a baking tray drop around 1 and ½ tbsp of cookie dough per portion. Space them around 2 inches apart as they will spread. Bake them at 375˚F or 190˚C for 13-15 minutes.

Enjoy with some vanilla ice cream!

Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of walnuts
  • 4.5 oz or 120 g of coconut oil
  • 1 dark chocolate
  • ¾ cup of light brown sugar
  • ¼  cup unsweetened soy milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup and ½ all purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

Step 1 – Infusing the coconut oil

Chop the walnuts. Get your stove on medium heat and heat up the coconut oil. Once done, add the walnuts and stir them for about 3-4 minutes until the oil is infused with their favour and aroma. Use a sieve to gather all walnut pieces as we will not be needing them – we need only the oil.

Step 2 – Preparing the dough

Sift the baking soda, flour and salt into a bowl and set it aside, so we can prepare the wet ingredients. Chop the chocolate and add the pieces in another bowl, pour the walnut oil, the unsweetened soy milk and finally add the sugar and vanilla extract. Combine everything. It is time to pour this over the flour mixture and stir until the dough is formed.

Chill for about an hour.

Step 3 – Baking

On a baking tray, place the dough scoops and bake them at 375˚F or 175˚C for 15-20 minutes.
