Best Hand Mixer For Cookie Dough Reviews

If you’re in a hurry to get your hand mixer, you need look no further - we’ve got the perfect one for you!

The stand out feature of this hand mixer is it’s specially designed twisted wire beaters.  They’re made to not only mix ingredients faster than other brands, but also clog less than other brand’s beaters too.  Just what you need for your cookie dough!

It’s a real powerful machine too, coming in at an outstanding 290 watts at peak power.

There are 6 different speed settings all together, which has some really cool features like a QuickBurst button, and even a unique pulse function on the lowest setting, for that extra bit of control (and of course avoidance of mess).

You can be 100% confident they work well for cookie dough - that’s exactly what Hamilton Beach uses in it’s promotional video on Amazon!

In addition to the twisted wire beaters, there’s also a pair of dough hooks, a whisk, and even a milkshake blending rod (which sounds like a great accompaniment to your cookies)!

You can keep all the attachments close at hand in the convenient snap on storage compartment, and they’re all easy to clean.

It also has an ejection button, to remove the attachments without getting your hands covered in dough, and a bowl rest, whereby the mixer is kept stable on top of the bowl while you open the oven.

We would argue that this hand mixer is absolutely perfect for your cookie dough!

Pros

  • Twisted wire beaters to mix faster and clog less
  • Really powerful at 290 watts
  • Bonus attachments include dough hooks, whisk and milkshake blending rod
  • Handy snap on storage case

OK, so Black and Decker are more known for their tools expertise - however they’ve applied their know-how well in this fantastic hand mixer!

It uses helix shaped, reinforced nylon, beaters which provide a mixing performance that’s twice as good, by mixing the ingredients in multiple directions.  The design maximises beater overlap to make for faster, more efficient mixing of your dough (or other mixture), because there’s an increased surface area of the beaters, allowing more contact between the beater and the ingredients.

The reinforced nylon in the beaters means they’ve got the strength to handle tougher mixes, like dough that’s been kept in the refrigerator.  It can handle your oatmeal cookie dough no problem!

You don’t just get the dough beaters though, there’s also two dough hooks and a wire whisk.  All of which are dishwasher safe, and can be conveniently packed away in it’s snap on storage case.

There are 5 different speed settings available, including a super fast turbo boost, and a reduced starting speed to prevent splatters.

We also love it’s small sleek design, and the color range should suit all tests, like a sleek black or white, or there’s some seriously eye popping shades like lime green or tangerine.

It’s also worth mentioning that the heel of the mixer is designed to either rest upright on the countertop or alternatively, sit safely balanced on the edge of the bowl.

Pros

  • Helix shaped beaters for twice as good a performance
  • Reinforced nylon beaters for thicker, tougher mixes
  • 3 other attachments including dough hooks and a whisk
  • Convenient snap on storage compartment
  • 5 speed settings including turbo boost
  • Nice color range
  • Can sit on the edge of the bowl

Cons

  • Some consumers don’t like the noise

It has 6 different speed settings.  We love how it includes a slower first speed to prevent splashing, and the quick burst button is super handy too, you can use it for dough out of the refrigerator.

We also love how it features a bowl rest, so if you have to let go of the hand mixer for whatever reason, it rests on the bowl for you, so you’re not in any danger of getting cookie dough all over the countertop while you’re opening the oven.  It’s nice and lightweight too.

It has 5 different speed settings, so it will do you for slowly mixing chunky ingredients like nuts into your cookie dough, with a soft start feature to avoid unnecessary splashing, or if you ever wanted to whisk egg whites, it’s all sorted in the press of a button.

Best Hand Mixer For Cookie Dough Buyers Guide

If you’ve decided to go for a hand mixer for doing your cookies, we commend you on your choice!  It gives you absolute control of your cookie texture before going into the oven, turning your baking into an art form.

There’s a plethora of hand mixers out there, and some of the newer models out there are really something.  Coming up we’ll go through some things to take into consideration when choosing your hand mixer.

Brand

There are some great, well established brands out there, and if you buy from a brand you know, you know it’s going to be durable, take a lot of use, even daily, and probably come with a warranty, should anything go wrong.

However brand is certainly not the be all and end all when it comes to hand mixers (for cookie dough or otherwise).  The main action of a hand mixer is technology that’s easily replicated and new brands are forming all that time that most often do just as good a job as the well known brands. That said, all of our Top 5 products come from big name brands we all know and trust.

Affordability

Hand mixers come in at different prices, which typically reflect the number of special features they have.  You can either go all out and pay that little bit more and get some really fancy equipment for you baking, or if you’re looking for something that simply does the job, we’ve got you covered.  The key is to get good value for your money. Our most affordable hand mixer for cookie dough is our Number 3.

Power/Wattage

Hand mixers generally aren’t as powerful as their stand mixer counter parts.  But that shouldn't be too much of a worry for you, since when you’re adding your chocolate chips, nuts, nuts, raisins, cranberries etc, you don’t want the mixer to be obliterating them!

If it’s not strong enough however, it may not be useful in mixing very thick dough - especially that straight out of the refrigerator.

Hand mixers generally come in at 200 to 250 watts, and for your cookie dough a motor which is 200 to 225 watts will do the job just fine. (Psst, we have even more powerful ones in our Top 5 hand mixers for cookie dough!)

Speed

Of course the reason we include the power and wattage subheading, is because it directly affects the speed.  If you’re hungry for delicious cookies, the quicker you get them the better right?

Importantly though, you will want to be able to adjust the speed based on the thickness of the cookie dough.  Most hand mixers have at least 3 different speeds, and some have 7 or more.

Having a variety of speed settings comes in really handy when you want to minimize splashing.  To minimize the amount of splashing and spilling, you need to increase the hand mixer speed gradually.  Going straight to a high speed will send your cookie dough everywhere.

Easy of use

“Ease of use” covers a number of things really.  First of all, since we’re looking specifically at hand mixers, it’s imperative that your hand mixer is lightweight.  We don’t want you wearing yourself out struggling with a heavy hand mixer - that would take all the fun out of it.

Ideally, you’re also after a hand mixer that has a flat side, so you can rest it on the kitchen counter top, without it losing balance, and without the dough covered attachments dirtying the kitchen counter.  Since having to remove the attachments first may well be something you forget when you’re concentrating on the cookie dough mixture itself.

And of course, ease of use covers things like how easy any attachments are to fix onto the machine, and whether you can access the different speed settings, whilst still mixing the dough.  Most hand mixers, luckily are pretty straightforward to use, and if not you can be sure they’ll come with an instruction manual.

A hand mixer that’s easy to clean is also a big plus.

Attachments and accessories

Attachments and accessories - the fun bit!  A basic hand mixer will come with only two beaters, but there are more advanced ones with more beaters and other accessories.  Dough hooks for example are a popular choice with cookie dough bakers. Each of our featured Top 5 products all come with extra attachments, including dough hooks.

Of course if you’re not going to be using different attachments, they’ll simply eat up storage space.  Which leads us onto our next subheading.

Storage

If you have a small kitchen and storage could be a potential problem, then ideally you want a smaller hand mixer that you can easily find a home for in your kitchen.  Another advantage of having a small hand mixer is that you can take it on self catering holdings, like in a caravan, and enjoy homemade cookies anywhere you go.

Many hand mixers provide special storage for the attachments and this is handy for keeping the attachments dust free.  In fact, all of our Top 5 hand mixers have this super convenient feature.
