Yes, you can buy the store-bought version of it. But the taste and enjoyment one desires to acquire is only possible by doing magic using your own hands. In this article, learn a method on how to cook sirloin steak.

There are various methods to cook sirloin steak all over the world. But very less does it happen that the entire process is told to you. So, to help you with that problem we are here offering you an efficient solution.

Below we have mentioned one of the most common, easy, and the perfect method to cook sirloin steak. This method will surely get that succulent, tender, tangy, salty, and crispy flavor you have desired since forever.

What method should I implement to achieve the perfectly cooked sirloin steak?

Although the best way to cook any steak is to grill it, I instead prefer cooking it in an oven for it is more convenient and takes less time.

One of the many reasons why I don’t use grill pan much is its period. It takes a long period only to soften. Moreover, grilling is fun only when the weather is good enough. You wouldn’t want to go out and come back sweating on a hot summer day only to cook a sirloin steak. I agree that it gives off a smoky flavor in the steak, but on a sunny day, it’s just not worth it.

Just because the oven works faster and more effectively than the grill pan, the oven is my preference. I like it that I don’t have to stand there all along, waiting to turn it or get myself burned. Cooking in an oven is rather easy. And it is the most brilliant option when you don’t have much time and want things to be done quicker.

What ingredients do I need to cook a sirloin steak?

A sirloin steak is one of those dishes which neither demands much effort nor much involvement of money, yet they are tasty as anything else. The ingredients this recipe requires are as follows:

  • 2 sirloin steaks
  • Black pepper
  • Salt
  • Olive oil, vegetable oil, or any other oil you have
  • Garlic cloves
  • Butter (preferably melted)
  • Thyme
  • Parsley

Except for the steak part, all the other ingredients are used in daily life routine and will undoubtedly be residing in your pantry.

What temperature do I set the oven at?

Set the temperature of the oven to 180ᵒC and allow to heat for at least 10 minutes. Meanwhile, bring the steaks out of the fridge and allow it to cool at room temperature for a good 50-55 mins.

What is the first step towards making it?

Heat a heavy-based skillet and add almost half a cup of oil to it. Let it heat for some time until bubbles start coming up to the surface. Meanwhile, season the steak generously with salt and pepper. When you are sure that the oil is hot enough, add the steaks to the skillet very carefully, avoiding any splashing of oil. Let it cook for a good three minutes until the downright side becomes soft and obtains sort of a golden-brownish color.

Does the next step include adding the rest of the ingredients?

Not really, but yes to some extent. Turn the steak over and add butter, thyme, and garlic cloves. Tack the steak with the butter and leave to cook for a minute or two. When it becomes golden, bring it out of the skillet and pat dry.  Strain the oil well. Let it cool for 2 minutes at room temperature before doing anything to it.

How long should I keep it in the oven?

After patting it dry, take a baking dish and grease it lightly with oil. Then, place the steak in the baking dish along with any seasonings you would like to add. Put a potato or two on either side to add more flavor.

Afterward, place the baking dish with the steak inside it, in the oven, and close the oven’s door. Set the temperature to 160 degrees. And allow cooking to at least 5 mins or until thoroughly soft and tender. After five mins, take it out of the oven and set to rest in a warm place, probably a microwave or something.

Bring it out and season generously with any herbs or seasonings you like. I prefer adding a bit of salt and red chilies along with parsley, thyme, or basil.

What should I serve along with the sirloin steak?

If you’re on a low budget, I suggest you serve fried fries or macaroni salad. It works best. But if you fancy a large dish, I would suggest Yorkshire Pudding or Caesar salad, or Wine sauce sautéed mushrooms. Though these will take time to prepare but are sure to make your evening a splendid one.
