How to Cook Brisket in the Oven – Making it Tender and Juicy

Brisket is the delicious cut of beef meat. It is the chest cut obtained from the lower part. Brisket comes in big pieces and is a tough cut.   1. Firstly, turn the oven on and preheat to 300 degrees Fahrenheit before preparing the beef brisket for cooking,
  2. Take a  piece of aluminum foil that should be large enough to line the roasting pan. It should cover the whole beef brisket while cooking. Spills can be a challenging mess to clean up later if it’s not fully covered.
  3. Secondly, take a small skillet and put all the rest of the ingredients inside it.
  4. And then mix well the ketchup, vinegar, soy sauce, mustard powder, ginger powder, Worcestershire sauce, oil, and water.

At 275 degrees :

The rule of thumb is, it takes an hour to cook for one pound at 300 degrees Fahrenheit. So it will take 75 minutes to prepare for one pound of beef at 275 degrees Fahrenheit.

At 225 degrees :

Keep in mind the thumb rule of time it will take to cooking beef in the oven. At 225 degrees Fahrenheit, it will take around two hours to prepare one pound of beef.

At 250 degrees :

It will take around one and a half hours to cook one pound of beef brisket at 250 degrees Fahrenheit in a pre-heated oven. 

How long to cook a 14 lb. brisket in the oven?

As a rule of thumb, it takes one hour to cook one pound at 300 degrees Fahrenheit. So it will take around 14 hours to prepare a 14-pound beef brisket in a pre-heated oven thoroughly.

Things to take note of when cooking beef brisket in the oven :

  1. Do not keep on unwrapping the foil during roasting because it can evaporate the liquid. The liquid is necessary for cooking the beef brisket well in time. The evaporated juice can lead the brisket to dryness. But most importantly, watch out for any leakage from the wrapped aluminum foil.
  2. When cooking time is over, check the inner temperature of the brisket with a thermometer. It should be above 190 degrees Fahrenheit. At this temperature, beef should be fully cooked and safe to eat.

  • Vegetable oil (1 tablespoon)
  • Two onions well chopped.
  • Four large carrots sliced.
  • Thyme (2 tablespoons)
  • Rosemary (2 tablespoons)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped well (2 tablespoons)
  • Two cups of tomatoes crushed.

Directions :

  1. Firstly, preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. And then sprinkle salt and pepper on all sides of the veal brisket.
  3. After that in a skillet, add the vegetable oil on medium heat
  4. Place the brisket in the skillet and sear the brisket to get brown from all sides. You will take 3 to 4 minutes for browning the brisket.
  5. Secondly, remove the brisket from the skillet and in the same skillet, put onion, garlic, and carrot, and then cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Then add the spicy ingredients and cook for another five more minutes.
  7. Now pour this mixture on veal brisket and place them inside the preheated oven.
  8. Lastly, wrap the brisket tightly with aluminum foil.
  9. Three-pound brisket will take three hours to cook well.
  10. After three hours, take it out from the oven and rest for 30 minutes. It is now ready to serve yummy and tasty veal brisket.
